Day 31. And so we find ourselves at the last day of our journey through my #PhotographerChallenge photos. This final photo was taken just after sunset from the Spinnies Nature Reserve where the River Ogwen flows into the Menai Strait. This photo is also from early on in my photography journey and I have learnt a great deal since then. If I could go back and retake this shot I would relook at the composition. There was another photographer, stood on the jetty to the left, which is why there isn’t more of it in the frame. But, I could have moved a bit further left from my spot and had more of the end of the jetty, following the rule of thirds.
When I was first starting, whenever I pulled my camera out it was as if my feet grew roots and the only way to vary the composition was by using my zoom lens. Nowadays I look carefully at what is (and isn’t!) in the frame and if it’s not right I physically move until I get it right, and when coupled with changing my viewpoint (getting down low, looking up, looking down etc) my composition has improved no end.
Thank you for following along my storytelling journey. I hope you have enjoyed finding out more about these images. Which are the stories that you particularly enjoyed? Whilst this is the last post in this series, there will be plenty more photos and stories coming soon, along with the launch of my new website, and later this year I’ll have some prints available to purchase online. Watch this space!
