Day 28. When I first shared this image a month ago, it proved to be one of the most popular of the photos I shared throughout the #PhotograpersChallenge, which surprised me a little. Walking home in the early hours of the morning following a shift in the pub has presented me with some amazing scenes over the years, more often than I care to admit capturing beautiful sunrises, but more recently I’m inclined towards getting home to bed as early as possible!

This road gently weaves its way above the shores of the Menai Strait, surrounded by squirrel-filled woodland and during the day, between the trees, has stunning views across the Strait. By night it has a different vibe, with the sound of rippling water over pebbles alluding to what is hidden in the darkness below.

On this particular evening, it had been raining fairly solidly for a couple of hours, but it had stopped just in time for my walk home. It was a hot evening in August, so this soon created a hazy mist as the moisture began to evaporate from the warm ground. The resulting rays from the street lamps caught my eye and this image is the outcome. I know this road like the back of my hand and yet this was the first time I had seen it under these conditions and in the future I will be checking the forecast for similar weather conditions, especially seeing as it’s a five minute walk from my front door and I can think of some great compositions that would benefit for the ambiance created here.
