Day 26. Today we are back at the famous viewpoint overlooking the Menai Strait. As I have previously mentioned, this is a very popular vantage point and as such it is sometimes difficult to find something unique that hasn’t been captured many times before. This is where the lensball comes into its own as they are still relatively uncommon and provide such a different perspective.
I love the sunbeams that are picked out in the slight haze between the peaks of the Carneddau mountains and the golden reflections in the water surrounding Church Island, gently highlighting it, drawing the eye away from the Menai Bridge in the centre of the frame.
Lensball photography is one of the rule breakers, where the rule of thirds does not apply. When using a lensball you need your subject to be right in the centre of the ball as that is where it will be most in focus and least distorted, whilst also remembering to pay attention to where the sun is so you don’t burn yourself or set fire to anything!
