Day 22 finds us back on the banks of Llyn Crafnant. This was somewhere I’d not visited before. I finished work and as there were no clouds in the sky to provide any interest towards sunset we decided to head into the mountains. We pulled out the guidebooks (which will be the subject of another post as there are some really excellent ones I’d recommend), we had a look to see where wasn’t too far away but was somewhere new to explore and decided that Llyn Crafnant would be ideal. The journey down to Trefriw was straightforward but from there Crafnant Road is a very narrow single track with some steep drops - I’m not sure I’d like to be driving along there in the height of summer when there are lots of other cars, but as it was evening there were very few other people around.

We parked in the first car park we found and walked through the forest up to the lake (which is actually a reservoir). The first thing you see as you arrive by the water is an obelisk, erected in 1896 by the thankful inhabitants of Llanwrst celebrating the gift of the lake to the town along with 19 acres of land by Richard James.

First of all I sent the drone up to get a better overview of the surrounding area (see Day 6), then with still a lack of clouds I decided that a lensball would be the best option, and this is the result. When I posted this a month ago I posted it the “correct” way round (the way up it was taken), when actually the intention was to have the image in the ball the right way round, as that is the main subject of the picture. Have a look back at it the other way up and let me know which you prefer!
