Day 19. The walk up to Rhaeadr Fawr is a picturesque one. This view caught my eye as we walked up as I am a big lover of mossy covered rocks/trees/walls (and lawns for that matter!) and everything was looking so lush and verdant in the aftermath of the several days of torrential rain that preceded our walk. This was my first trip to the falls and as such, I was unsure how much further on they were from this point. I like the intrigue this picture creates, curious about what lies around the corner, and as a first time visitor I did not know the answer myself. Indeed, as I rounded the corner I was greeted by the splendour of the falls in full flow, but more about that later this month when we return to the foot of the falls.
The falls are a bit of a trek to get to but there is a very good path that is generally accessible to most and this is certainly a location I will visit again, to see how different the falls are after a dry spell (in Wales?! Perhaps I’m being a tad optimistic?), when the falls are more of a trickle than a torrent, or perhaps even an adventure further up to Rhaeadr Fach.
