Day 15. This is one of the most recent photos I have taken. Back at the start of December I slipped and fell on some ice, shattering my olecranon (one of the bones that makes up the elbow). Post surgery my whole arm was in a cast which made many things difficult, including photography. Having had my cast off in early January I have been keen to get back out to do some photography, but progress restoring movement in my arm has been slow, so I have stayed close to home for short trips out with my camera.

Thankfully I am not short of amazing views right on my doorstep. This particular vista is just down the road from my house. One afternoon mid January I had been watching the changing light over the pier through the living room window as the afternoon wore on and the golden colours that were appearing were really quite special, so I grabbed my camera and headed down to the pier. The pier opening hours vary by season and I arrived almost at closing time, but I managed 10 minutes shooting the sunset over the Old Baths. But by the time the pier closed the sunset wasn’t done casting such beautiful light over the surrounding hillsides and the glistening masts caught my eye just in time to capture this before the sun dipped below the horizon.

I have made good use of the time during which I was unable to handle my camera and I hope to be able to keep up the momentum now that I’ve begun. I have worked on honing my editing skills and have made great strides in editing a backlog of work as well as re-editing some of my older pieces. I have also started to set up a website ready to begin selling prints later this year and of course I have been exploring social media and sharing some of my favourite shots with you lovely people. Thank you all for your support, it really means so much to me.
